Abstract
Six partially de-pancreatized o rats which had a mild spontaneous glyco-suria were adrenalectomized and treated with 2.0 mg. of 11-desoxycorticosterone acetate daily. Following adrenalectomy, the glycosuria disappeared but was reinduced by the adm. of 0.1 mg. of diethylstilbestrol daily. After a few days, each rat died although the glycosuria was not severe. In a 2d expt., 5 partially depancreatized rats which were without spontaneous glycosuria became diabetic during the adm. of 0.1 mg. of diethylstilbestrol daily and the glycosuria disappeared when the diethylstilbestrol was withdrawn. These animals were adrenalectomized and maintained on 3.0 cc. daily of adrenal cortex extract. Glycosuria developed only when diethylstilbestrol was administered. When these animals were maintained by treatment with 11-desoxycor-ticosterone acetate or by drinking a soln. of 0.9% NaCl the diabetogenic effect of diethylstilbestrol was either slight or absent.
