Abstract
The objective of this work was to study the amplitude distributions of acoustic emission signals, and their evolutions during mechanical tests, in composites. Discontinuous distri butions, continuous distributions and intermediate distributions are observed according to sort of composite and type of mechanical test. Discontinuous distributions are associated with the development of the basic failure modes in composites. Whereas continuous distri butions are characteristic of development of complex failure modes. Keywords
