Abstract
Experiments are described in which positive and negative pressures generated in a liquid contained in a stainless steel Berthelot tube are measured by means of a transducer attached to the tube using a new sealing arrangement. A family of curves, which are virtually true isochores, is obtained for deionized water and it is believed that this is the first time that such curves have been reported for a liquid in the negative pressure range. A few preliminary results for other liquids are also given. Keywords
