Abstract
Transverse-momentum spectra are calculated for heavy quarkonium states (,) produced in and collisions. These transverse momenta result from the hard quark () and gluon () subprocesses , , and . The distributions for production are expected to be significantly steeper than for the continuum, whereas the two distributions become similar in the mass region. These effects are partly confirmed by recent CERN ISR measurements. Predictions for collisions at GeV are also given.
