Abstract
Quasi-ternary amorphous alloys of the (Fe1-x Mnx) 75 P15 C10 system have been prepared by the melt spinning techniques. The amorphous structure and the random distribution of iron and manganese over a unique type of atomic site have been carefully checked using X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry and the actual composition of the alloys has been measured after quenching. The negative value of its neutron scattering length allows the manganese to produce contrast variations on the iron sites. From the neutron diffraction patterns measured on four different alloys (with x = 0, 0.26, 0.70 and 0.84) it has been possible to obtain preliminary insight into the structural description of the systemKeywords
