Abstract
Recent research has shown that in ruminants as well as monogastric animals, digestive physiology can be changed by altering feeding frequency. A mechanical apparatus for use in this type of research with ruminants has been developed. The dispensing unit consists of a rather large round metal bin with 7 equal sized segmented compartments. In operation, 6 of the compartments may be filled with chopped forage. As the bin is rotated, a compartment is emptied as it passes over an opening in the bottom. This provides enough capacity for feeding at 2-hr intervals for 12 hrs. The controls necessary to accomplish the desired functioning are described. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
