Abstract
Results from prospective surveillance of nosocomial infections (NIs) in a small community hospital were evaluated, and a case-control study was conducted. The rate of 1.4 NIs per 100 discharges determined by prospective surveillance was found to be underestimated. Prematurity, pediatric service, surgery, length of stay, and age were independently associated with NI.Keywords
