Abstract
It is probably safe to assume that there is no one unaware of the recent gasoline shortage. The debates still go on regarding whether or not the shortage was “real” (government and/or oil company conspiracies, etc.) but one thing is sure: The lines at the gas pumps were real. It is easy to find individuals proposing solutions, and it is equally easy to find individuals who claim that each of these solutions won't work. Frequently any analysis to show why a particular solution will or will not work is missing. This paper contains an analysis that focuses on the problem as seen by the average driver. The key issue is: “What can be done to shorten ridiculously long lines at the pumps?”
