Abstract
Two types of detns. are offered as clinical indices comparable to the ideal hematocrit. These measurements involve the use of isotope technics employing I131 tagged human serum albumin. They are stable, sensitive and independent of physical variables normally affecting centrifuge-detd. hematocrits. The variations in trapped plasma of centrifuged normal blood with respect to physical variables have been studied. These variables were those associated with the standard clinical detn. of the hematocrit. The concept of impulse was introduced combining force and time of centrifugation into a single independent variable with respect to trapped plasma. It is concluded that a constant correction factor due to trapped plasma as applied to the centrifuge-determined hematocrit cannot exist. Keywords
