The effect of four methods of instruction on the use of visual aids in speeches

Abstract
The study reported here examined four approaches used in teaching Public Speaking students about visual aids: Oral Lectures, Written Handouts, Demonstration Lectures, and Multimedia Demonstration Lectures. The attempt of the study was to provide direct experimental support for or against the use of visual materials in teaching the topic of visual aids. Results of the study suggest that a Demonstration Lecture and a Multi‐media Demonstration Lecture are the most effective approaches, followed by an Oral Lecture. A Written Handout is least effective in teaching students to utilize visual aids in public speeches.
