Abstract
A description is presented of several intramolecular models studied to ascertain the kinetic effect of steric compression on an intramolecular catalysis of the hydrolysis of an ester bond, A table of the relative rates of anhydride formation and solvolysis in the intramolecular nucleophilic catalysis of the hydrolysis of 4 mono esters of dibasic acids is presented and discussed. Keywords
