Abstract
Peach rust, Tranzschelia pruni-spinosae, is of world-wide distribution. It exists in all the fruit-growing districts of New Zealand. In New Zealand, pycniosori and aecidiosori occur only on Anemone: uredosori and te1eutosori are found on peaches and other stone fruits. The anemone, in New Zealand, is not important in spreading the disease. The fungus overwinters on twigs of stone fruits as uredosori which produce a new crop of uredospores in the spring. Almost all the varieties of stone fruits grown in New Zealand are susceptible to rust, though the degree of rust infection varies among varieties.Keywords
