Abstract
Earlier experiments on the He II-He I transition in a heat current have been repeated in several different flow geometries in an attempt to discover the reason for discrepancies among results of various observers. Detailed analysis of the data has allowed us to suggest a mechanism which may account for the apparent inconsistencies. Keywords
