Abstract
Gastric ulcer was produced in rats by ligating the pylorus. In one experimental series, effects on intact and gonadectomized rats of both sexes were compared. Ulcerations were more severe in the intact female rats than in any one of the other three groups. Three groups of castrated male rats were given 100, 10 and 0 [mu]g estradiol monobenzoate subcutaneously daily for 2-3 weeks. Groups given estrogen presented a higher incidence of ulcer than the controls. Keywords
