Abstract
Brucellaphage, type abortus, strain 3, obtained from the Rostov on the Don Antiplague Institute, U.S.S.R., caused lysis of smooth and intermediate types of Brucella abortus but not mucoid or rough. Brucella suis and Brucella melitensis strains tested were unaffected. The selective lysis of smooth organisms may explain the lack of lysis obtained in broth cultures inoculated with phage and a predominatly but not wholly, smooth population of brucellae (PICKETT and NELSON, J. Hygiene. 48: 500. 1950).This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
