Abstract
The self‐diffusion coefficient in a simple dense fluid is calculated from the autocorrelation function of the momenta. If the randomization of momentum is rapid, the resultant diffusion coefficient differs from that first suggested by Kirkwood, Buff and Green by only (2/π)½. The physical basis of this result is considered. A very simple method of demonstrating the necessity for molecular correlations in the approach to equilibrium is discussed. Keywords
