STUDIES OF SEGREGATION/MIXING IN FLUIDISED BEDS OF DIFFERENT SIZE PARTICLES

Abstract
Binary, tertiary and quaternary systems of different sized particles of equal density have been fluidized in a 15 cm diameter bed with porous, perforated plate and standpipe distributors and segregation patterns have been obtained. For porous plates, correlating equations are given for a mixing index and take-off velocity. At the same superficial gas velocity, better mixing is obtained with the other distributors.
