Abstract
The distinctive semiconductor properties of hydrogenerated amorphous silicon are due to its lack of a crystal-line structure. Amorphous silicon has been used for almost fifteen years in solar cells in hand-held calculators. Now a new amorphous-silicon-based technology is emerging which is making it possible to produce high-resolution displays for computers and televisions, and image sensors for many applications.
