Nebennierenrinde und alkalische Phosphatase

Abstract
Adrenalectomy in the guinea pig decreased the activity of the alkaline phosphatase of the intestine and kidney to about one-half its normal value. Maintenance of the animals on DCA kept the values slightly higher than normal. Care was taken to use animals that survived at least 4 days after adrenalectomy. The problems of hormonal control of enzyme activity are discussed from the standpoint of control of metal activators, and the role of the cortical hormones as enzyme prosthetic groups.
