Abstract
The effective deployment of health professionals continues to be a major concern for those charged with the organisation and delivery of health services. Obtaining answers to staffing problems is particularly challenging for the nursing profession which is the largest single body of health professionals within the National Health Service. In response to this problem various systems of nursing organisation have been tried and Professional implications implemented over the past two decades. Three of these systems are the focus of this article. They are; team nursing, patient allocation and primary nursing. Keywords
