Abstract
Quenching of by I(2P3/2) atoms has been measured in a fluorescence experiment at elevated temperatures. The quenching cross section is (120±45) Å2. This very large cross section is attributed to the formation of long‐lived I3 collision complexes. Vibrational relaxation of by I atoms is not observed.
