Some features of the volcanic sequence in the Cascade Range in Oregon

Abstract
The following is a condensed version of part of report on geology and ore‐deposits of Cascade Range in Oregon in preparation; it is published by permission of the Director, United States Geological Survey.In a certain sense the Cascade Range is the dissected western margin of the large area of dominantly volcanic rocks in the northwestern part of the United States. This is particularly true of the Range in California and in the southernmost part in Oregon, but farther north topographic features, distribution of rock types, and linear elements appear which distinguish the Cascade Range from adjacent provinces. It is the purpose of this paper to point out these elements and to show the distribution and stratigraphic arrangement of rock types, so far as our present knowledge permits, as well as some of their petrographic features.
