Abstract
The paper embodies the description of a polariscope which offers several advantages for photoelastic investigations and is applicable to the analysis of stress distributions in parallel plates and to Mesnager's modified three‐dimensional analysis. The chief characteristic of the optical arrangement is that the light, after passing through the usual arrangement of polarizing prism, retardation plate and model, is reflected directly back through the same system. Keywords
