Untersuchungen über die Hämolymphproteine der Chironomiden (Dipt.)

Abstract
Eleven species of chironomid midges are characterized by the position (mr-value) and the mean percentage of their larval haemolymph proteins in cellogel- and agar-electropherograms. According to the close connection between the protein spectrum and the genetic code the interspecific concordances and differences parallel largely the system of the species based on karyosystematics. At the beginning of the fourth larval instar a new fraction appears in Ch. thummi while the concentration of at least two others decreases. No sex-dependent differences were demonstrable. In all species studied for this matter at least one lactate dehydrogenase and one phenoloxidase are present, the functions of which are discussed.
