Renal Autotransplantation

Abstract
The progress of renal transplantation has made possible the development of autotransplant and extracorporeal surgery. This has allowed us to find a new tactical solution to those cases in which conservative conventional surgery was impossible or useless, including those cases where the only solution used to be nephrectomy or high urinary diversion. In other cases such as surgery of renovascular hypertension, its application has allowed us to obtain a greater percentage of cures with fewer risks for the patient. Although we must admit that this operation has been abused, in the last few years its indications have increased due to the good results obtained. The fewer complications and absence of mortality demonstrate that autotransplantation is a good solution and has undoubtedly increased our surgical possibilities.
