Abstract
Voltage pulses are induced in a solenoid surrounding a strip of magnetic material under mechanical stress. These pulses occur in both directions, giving direct proof of atomic orientation in a particular direction, but in either sense. Possible hypotheses for the smallness of the effect in comparison with the magnetic Barkhausen effect are advanced. Keywords
