THE DISTRIBUTION AND RATE OF DISAPPEARANCE OF INTRAVENOUSLY INJECTED HISTAMINE IN THE RAT

Abstract
The distr. of histamine injected intraven. into the intact and adrenalectomized rat is markedly in favor of the tissues as compared with the blood within 15 min. Of the tissues studied, the kidney takes up most histamine. Although, the conc. of histamine in the blood, lung, liver and lymph glands has begun to decrease within 15 min. after the inj., no apparent decrease is evident in the kidney up to the 30 min. period. After this time the rate of disappearance is greatest in the kidney. Adrenalectomy has little effect on the initial tissue distr. of histamine injected intraven, in the rat, but markedly retards the rate of its disap-pearance. This effect is most marked in the kidney.
