Abstract
Recordings of the intragastric pressure/volume relationship have been undertaken in patients with duodenal ulcer before and after administration of 30 mg metoclopramide i. v. Investigations were made preoperatively and after vagotomy, utilizing a gastric tube supplied with a large-sized, thinwalled plastic bag. The results showed a stimulating effect of metoclopramide on gastric motility in the intact stomach which persisted after vagotomy. Metoclopramide proved to have a normalizing effect on postvagotomy motor dysfunction which might be utilized in the treatment of postvagotomy gastric stasis. Keywords
