Abstract
Dispersal of adult Psylla pyricola Foerster was heavy in the preoverwintering and over wintering generations. Adults departed and entered pear orchards in large numbers at heights up to 4 m, the maximum height studied. Populations up to 258,000/ha were detected in leaf duff during late fall, but few remained in the spring. Tillage of the leaf duff in late fall destroyed a disproportionate number of predators, with minimal impact on over wintering P. pyricola.
