Abstract

4-Deoxy-4-fluoro-D-fructose (II) was prepared by specific hydrogenation of 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-mannitol (I), using the enzymatic system of Gluconobacter oxydans. Using ¹H, ¹³C and ¹⁹F NMR spectra its structure and its existence in the pyranose conformation ²C₅(D) in aqueous solution was demonstrated.
