Occupational Raynaud’s II

Abstract
Additional light is shed on the problem of Raynaud''s phenomenon of occupational origin in hard-rock drillers. The problem is apparently one of gross exaggeration of normal constrictive vascular responses brought on by prolonged exposure to violent mechanical vibration. Attacks are precipitated by exposure to cold and, more particularly, to whole body cooling rather than cooling limited to the hands. Late in the disorder, organic changes also develop in the vessel walls (fibrosis). When disabling, this disorder presents a unique compensation problem. Prevention is discussed.
