Attributed pride or shame in group and self.

Abstract
Conducted a thought experiment in which 88 undergraduates were asked the amount of pride or shame they would assign to a group (and to themselves as members) after the group had earned each of 5 different scores (from excellence to failure)-given that the effort and the ability of members was either strong or weak. It was found that ratings of pride or shame for both group and self were changed as the members' exertion and competence varied. Women were more affected by the effort of group mates, while men were more affected by the competence of colleagues. Efforts of members was a more important source of pride in the group than in oneself. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
