Laser Characteristics of Niobium Compensated CaMoO[sub 4] and SrMoO[sub 4]

Abstract
The niobium‐compensated and systems have been found to be excellent host materials for rare earth ions. A discussion is given of pertinent crystal properties, fluorescence spectra, laser output wavelengths, thresholds for stimulated emission, and other parameters of importance in practical utilization of these materials for pulsed and CW lasers. A comparison with the sodium compensated system is given where data are available.
