The standards factor

Abstract
More national and international standards committees are addressing more user interface design issues every day. Because of the speed with which things are happening, I've decided to set aside the winter and summer issues of this column for bringing you updates on the activities of the primary committees working in this area, at least at the ISO level and within the U.S. With the help of the people credited in the summaries below, I hope to be able to provide fairly complete coverage. I can't promise up-to-the-minute coverage because of the Bulletin's three-month publication cycle. However, if you need more timely information, let me know and I'll help you get in touch with members of the committees of interest.
