Abstract
The determination of sugar in the capillary blood of starved patients is a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic aid in skin diseases. It was determined by the methods of Bang and Hagedorn-Jensen. The literature states that normal values fluctuate between 70-120 mgm.%; it was therefore proposed to take as a normal value an established statistical mean: 95.6 [plus or minus] 1.3 mgm. %. The skin can react quite differently in various subjects to the sugar offered[long dash]an individual reactivity. Hyperglycemia is found with dermatitis intertriginosa; hypoglycemia in the late exudative eczeminatoid. In a series of typical allergic reactions, eosinophilia, reduction of the salicylic binding power of the blood, white cutaneous marks, positive reaction with extracts of scaly human skins, etc., hyperglycemi is found. In psoriasis, in true eczema, seborrhea, eczematoid, acne and other affections no rise in blood sugar can be determined. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
