Abstract
Thirty-six patients with seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp and culture positive for Pityrosporum ovale were treated in a double-blind placebo controlled study with ketoconazole shampoo twice weekly for 4 weeks. In the ketoconazole group, 16 of 18 patients (89%) became free of lesions or improved, compared with only 8 of 18 (p less than 0.01) in the placebo group. The patients found the shampoo effective, easy to use and cosmetically attractive. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
