Suicidalförsök med stor dos av klorprotixen

Abstract
Attempted suicide with chlorprothixene Described above is a case of acute poisoning from 10-11 grammes of chlorprothixene in a 21-year-old chronic schizophrenic (male). The coma lasted 36 hours, with severe convulsions during the first 24 hours. Though there was no clear diminution of blood pressure, the patient suffered an acute deficiency of kidney function of short duration. One factor in the patient's recovery may have been that he had been taking largish doses of chlorprothixene for some time past. All the same, the above case history goes to confirm the general view that chlorprothixene is a safe drug, even when administered to outpatients with a consequent risk of attempted suicide.
