Experiments on sensory-tonic field theory of perception: I. Effect of extraneous stimulation on the visual perception of verticality.

Abstract
A test of the hypothesis that extraneous stimulation influences the perception of an object. Electrical stimulation to the neck muscle, and auditory stimulation were tested for effect on perception of verticality of an adjustable luminescent rod. 40 Ss, 20 men and 20 women were used. Both kinds of extraneous stimulation affected perception of the vertical in an equivalent manner. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
