Abstract
During in-vitro and in-vivo rearings of the chicken body louse, Menacanthus stramineus (Nitzsch), the incubation period of the eggs was 4–5 days and each of the 3 nymphal stages required 3 days. Rearings in vitro were most successful at 35°C and 95% RH. Mated females produced 0–4 eggs per day, and averaged 1.6 eggs a day during a 12.4 day adult life. Peak oviposition occurred when females were 5–6 days old. Keywords
