Abstract
Summary: Ten samples of 50 pebbles were taken from a till sheet (Nottingham) and a drumlin (Yorkshire). Statistical analysis of these data indicates that there is considerable fabric variability. In part this is related to significantly different proportions of shape classes, sizes and elongations that do occur even between samples a few metres apart. The results confirm and strengthen the early warning of Holmes, who showed that shape and roundness condition orientation. These suggestions have been largely ignored and their implications forgotten. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
