Abstract
This chapter outlines a proposal for a radical compact between owners and managers, or more precisely a compact between institutional owners and executive directors. In order to meet the long-term interests of owners and managers, the chapter proposes these reforms to address the currently inadequate system of corporate governance for the UK. It later adapts these same proposals for the US. The proposal involves partially concentrating investment institutions to take an ownership in major companies and providing the part time directors for the new roles. The chapter goes on to elaborate the likely effects of establishing these reforms, as well as their implications for long-term competitiveness in the global arena.
