Sulfite Oxidase (Sulfite: Ferricytochrome C Oxidoreductase)**The IUB commission on enzyme nomenclature assigned the numbers 1.8.2.1 and 1.8.3.1 to sulfite:ferricytochrome c oxidoreductase and sulfite:oxygen oxidoreductase, respectively. Since it is now established that both activities are expressions of the same enzyme and since ferricytochrome c is the physiological electron acceptor the number 1.8.2.1 adequately describes the enzyme.
