Abstract
Six subjects with consistent misarticulations of the /r/ phoneme were provided remedial speech instruction for this sound for a period of two months. Thirty-item sound production tasks were administered to each subject on five occasions prior to instruction, before and after each instruction session, and on several occasions after the last lesson. The principal finding is that the number of correct responses tended to be stable during the testing before the lesson series, but that the number of correct responses increased during the lesson series. Scores obtained following the lesson series remained stable at the level achieved during the lessons. The conclusion is supported that administration of sound production tasks during baseline and treatment periods is useful in the evaluation of articulation therapy. Keywords
