Abstract
The repulsive interaction between mesions suppresses the meson field around nucleons and brings about nuclear saturation. For a nuclear system composed of nucleons and neutral scalar mesons, we have calculated the energy per nucleon, disregarding the repulsive core in the nuclear force and taking into account the quantum fluctuations. The compressibility of nuclear matter is evaluated. Keywords
