Abstract

Schizonts of Hepatozoon sp. were found in the myocardium of an adult coyote (Canis latrans) collected from the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Austwell, Texas [USA]. This constitutes the first time hepatoxoonosis has been recorded in Canidae in the Western Hemisphere.
