Abstract
It is represented that the inflection frequency f/sub i/, has the important role in the dispersive property of microstrip lines. This f/sub i/ is related to the coupling between the TEM mode and the TM/sub 0/ mode. Using f/sub i/, an approximate dispersion formula is derived by improving Schneider's formula. The results obtained by the present formula are compared with the other available results; good agreement is seen. Keywords
