Abstract
An analysis of the Maryland-Pavia-Princeton experiment on inclusive muon production in annihilations yields an upper limit for the ratio of charged-multiplicity events from the particle , charge conjugate to the particle that produced the muon, of . If were a charmed meson, this ratio would be >2, a prediction incompatible with the data. The predicted ratio for a heavy lepton is ∼0.18, in good agreement with experiment.
