Abstract
We derive an exact expression for the low-temperature correlation function in the eight-vertex-equivalent Ising model. We provide a phenomenological interpretation of the qualitative nature of the transfer-matrix spectrum in terms of bubble excitations and speculate about the behavior in nonzero magnetic field. Keywords
