To the Editor: Glass et al.1 suggest that neonates exposed to bright light are at increased risk for retinopathy of prematurity. If their hypothesis is true, marked alterations in the present illumination standards and practice in neonatal intensive care units are warranted. Before advocating such changes, it is important to consider the methodologic shortcomings of their study.The conclusions and power of their study were weakened by the sequential assignment of patients to the control or treatment group.
