Abstract
29Si NMR measurements show that in waterglass solutions the silicon exists mainly in the form of tetrafunctional branching groups (-107.2 ppm), trifunctional branching groups (—94.6 ppm), middle groups (—86.6 ppm) and end groups at —77.4 ppm. The ortho-silicate anion resonance was found between — 68.7 and —72.3 ppm. The variation is probably due to different degrees of ionization.
